12.Mar.2010 Holiday homeowners in New Zealand district gets targeted by burglars

A number of holiday homes in the New Zealand district of Taupo are being targeted by burglars. This was revealed by authorities after several spate of robberies in the area.
According to the Taupo police, seven out of ten recent burglaries that took place in the area were staged on vacant properties. These are holiday homes vacated by owners who opted to live elsewhere at a significant length of time.
Stuart Duncan, the Taupo Acting Senior Sergeant, has advised the residents in the area to communicate with neighbors before they go on a vacation in order for them to look over to the place from time to time to avoid such occurrences in the future.
Duncan said that hot water cylinders are among the major items taken away by burglars to these holiday homes. Even houses that were up for sale are also being robbed by thieves. At least they aren’t stealing the sexy lingerie you bought for the wife.
